Code of Ethics & Conflict of Interest Policy

Effective Date: October 2026 • Last Updated: October 2026 • Authority: TruthUpfront Ethics & Standards Committee
🌐 Network-Wide Ethical Standards

This Code of Ethics applies universally across all journalists, editors, analysts, and contributors representing TruthUpfront.com and our specialized digital publications:

1. Fundamental Statement of Ethics

At TruthUpfront, our credibility is our most vital asset. We believe journalism is a public trust, and our duty is to provide our audience with fair, thorough, and rigorously verified reporting free from outside commercial, political, or personal influence.

Every member of our editorial staff, contributor network, and executive board is bound by this Code of Ethics.

2. Conflicts of Interest & Commercial Independence

We maintain a rigid firewall preventing commercial considerations from infiltrating editorial decisions:

  • No Payola or Sponsored Coverage: We never accept cash, equity, or compensation of any kind in exchange for coverage, favorable product reviews, or omitted criticism.
  • Gift & Hospitality Restrictions: Staff may not accept gifts, free services, paid vacations, or travel hospitality from subjects of coverage, PR firms, or commercial vendors. Nominal promotional items under $25 may be accepted or donated.
  • Review Unit Handling: Hardware review samples provided by manufacturers are accepted solely on temporary loan for testing purposes and are returned or cataloged in our hardware archive. They never become personal property of the reviewer.
  • Outside Work & Consulting: Editorial staff may not consult for, perform PR work for, or maintain financial interests in entities operating within their journalistic beat.

3. Financial Holdings & Market Integrity

To prevent insider enrichment and protect the integrity of financial and technical reporting:

  • Trading Blackouts: Contributing journalists and editors are prohibited from buying, selling, or shorting securities, options, or cryptocurrencies issued by companies they have covered within 30 calendar days before or after publication.
  • Mandatory Disclosure: Any relevant personal financial interest (such as holding broad index funds or legacy investments) that could reasonably be perceived as a conflict must be disclosed in writing to the Ethics Committee and disclosed prominently in the published article.

4. Domain-Specific Ethical Directives

Specialized domains within our network abide by heightened guidelines tailored to their respective fields:

  • Technology (tech.truthupfront.com): Embargo agreements are respected only when they provide equal access to information without dictating review verdicts or suppressing negative benchmark findings. Hardware benchmarking labs operate with calibrated, documented methodologies.
  • Health & Medicine (health.truthupfront.com): Writers must scrutinize pharmaceutical sponsorship and industry ties in clinical trials. Medical journalists must not endorse proprietary supplements or therapies in exchange for referral commissions beyond standard, disclosed affiliate links.
  • Business & Finance (business.truthupfront.com): Reporters must strictly observe SEC securities regulations, avoid front-running market-moving scoops, and verify financial allegations with multiple primary accounting or regulatory documents.

5. Political Non-Partisanship & Civic Integrity

TruthUpfront is fiercely independent and non-partisan. Staff journalists are prohibited from contributing to political campaigns, endorsing electoral candidates, or participating in public partisan demonstrations that could compromise their objective standing or the perceived neutrality of the TruthUpfront Media Network.
